Home...

I'm home for two weeks (well, less than that now, but whatever). Done with the semester. Don't have to study anything or make up any more tests. I refuse to start studying for the board exams until next month (middle of next month, if that). Was actually told not to study by numerous professors. And so I shall not. And my brain is thankful. I actually got nearly 12 hours of sleep last night. How crazy is that? I don't think I've slept that long since I started medical school.

Made up all my exams from when I was gone, plus took the ones I was supposed to last week. Total = 6 exams in 10 days. My brain actually hurt by Friday morning. It wanted to stop working. And I think it actually kind of did. Too bad I still had 1 exam left to take, and the scariest one no less. Hematology. Well, cross one more specialty off my list. Nope, not likely that you will ever see Claudine Feliciano, DO, Hematologist. More power to any hematologist out there, it's just not my thing.

Don't know how I made it through those last 10 days. I'm thoroughly convinced my mom was holding the back of my neck, keeping me upright, because I have no clue how I got through taking 6 exams (2 hematology within the span of a week - that's rough, dude-, 2 SPALs - the fake patient thing - , 1 OMM (that one was actually not bad at all), and 1 Infectious Disease). I'm amazed. My classmates were amazed. And so I thank my mom. And hey, I passed everything, so woo hoo!

And so I am home, christmas shopping (hurling myself further into debt, but oh well), gift-wrapping, cleaning, baking (YAYAYAYAYAY!!! I so happy) and catching up on resting my brain. And now, I'm off to throw a load of laundry into the dryer. Until later, all 5 of my readers. =P

juuust what i needed...

Faboo. I'm sick. Again. But it's more annoying than last time. I caught a cold just after I got back to school, got over it in like 4-5 days. Was just starting to feel better again. Then BAM! Saturday night, my right nostril became a leaky faucet. So I've spent today blowing my nose, holding tissue to my face, washing my hands, etc. Now my throat is sore. Oy. It's not serious or anything, but just annoying. I'm going to have to sit in class for over 4 hours tomorrow constantly holding tissue under my nose. Argh. Hopefully I don't start coughing... Cold-Eeze, help! I still have 4 exams to take! I don't have time to be sick!!!

long time no blog...

Howdy. Long time to see. Life has been keeping me busy.

In short, I'm sure most of my regular readers (if anyone is left after my 1 month hiatus) already know, but my mom passed away 17 days ago. She fought like hell for so long, but in the end, she was tired. She deserved to be able to rest, to not have to feel pain with her every waking moment. And now she is in a place where she can breathe, yell, smell everything she hasn't been able to in years, and watch over the family she left behind. Maybe someday I'll talk about it more on the blog, but today's not the day.

I'm back at school, trying to get back into the swing of things. Not happening, really. My school, professors, and classmates have been great. Very supportive, very understanding. But I'm still kinda in a funk. I can pay attention in class, but I feel like I'm so behind. My classmates have 3 tests next week. I however, have 6 in the next 10 days. I would rather have to be making up all the tests and classes that I missed rather than not have been with my family, don't get me wrong, but once in a while I feel a little overwhelmed. Moreso than usual. But I will trudge on, because that's what Mommy wanted. Oh yeah, I want to be a doctor too.

So please, keep praying for my family. My dad, especially. The healing is only beginning.
