Argh. Blech. Blah.


Honestly, not too much to say right now. I just figured I'd let you all know I'm still alive. School and boards studying has not yet defeated me, although the diagnostic test we took on Saturday just about did. You see, part of my tuition this year pays for our whole class to take a Board review class from a professional Test Preparation company. I won't say which one, but they're one of those SAT/MCAT whatever standardized tests exist Test Preparation companies. So we had this 150-question, 3 hour diagnostic exam to guage our strengths/weaknesses/give a taste of how screwed we are come June. It was painful. I saw stuff that I knew we'd been taught before, and I knew who taught it, what class it was, hell, what the notes looked like, but for the life of me, I couldn't remember what the damn notes said. And then there was the stuff that just made me go, "huh?". Ya gotta love diagnostic tests. Ain't nothin like 'em to boost your self esteem.

I'm poor now, poorer than before. I've given up one source of income which in the long run is a good thing, I hope - I finally made the call, sisterfriends. I still have my piddly Teaching Assistant income, so at least I have something, but I just got my bills back from Christmas. And they hurt. And worse yet, a lot is my own damn fault. So I've actually started drafting a budget. Yes, an actual, written-on-paper budget. Because I need to see just how horrible I am with money AND because I don't have a cushion anymore. I should have done this last year, and believe me, I'm kicking myself in the head for 1) not doing it earlier, and 2) a whole bunch of other things. I NEED to be better with money. I mean, for Pete's sake, I owe over $60,000 to the government as is. So to all yous in school out there, watch your money.

What do you know. I guess I did have stuff to say.

By the way, "Armageddon" is on TV. I swear, I've said this before, and I'll say it again, no matter how many times I've watched this movie, I still cry.

Well, whaddaya know...


I actually have readers! If they're still there. Thanks for hanging in there, folks. Can't promise I'll be a frequent blogger, but I'll try. I've got the first of 3 medical licensing exams (AKA "The Boards") coming up in June, so I'm supposed to start studying for those now. In addition to the classes I'm taking now. And if I fail the boards, I can't start my third year of school. How much would that suck? But there is another exam given in October should anyone fail. But I'd rather not do that, since I'm supposed to be on my clinical rotations in September.


Got thrown right back into the fire on Monday when classes started at 8 AM. I already have a renal (kidney stuff) exam this Wednesday. Just a tip - be kind to your kidneys.

Back to studying I go. Well, after I make dinner.
